Despite the rainy weather, a sizable group of people made it out to discuss Milkman by Anna Burns! The members of the book club talked about the Troubles, reading through difficult times, the funny parts of a sad book, the maybe boyfriend, being immersed in the main character's perspective which allows all the odd things she does seem normal.

Someone mentioned that the mother character was their favourite and the ways the book talked about the subtleties of the women's' world.  

Next New Reads Book Club, we'll be reading Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi on May 29th .
