This Woman's Work is Out Today!
March 5, 2019
This Woman’s Work has finally arrived! This is an English translation of Julie Delporte’s Moi aussi je voulais l’emporter by Aleshia Jensen and Helge Dascher.
This Woman’s Work is a tender and personal exploration of feminism, family, trauma, and making one’s way as an artist and as a woman.
The book winds through theory, travelogues, and dreams, unpacking memories, reflecting on role models, and contemplating childlessness.
Delporte’s signature bright, pencil crayon drawings interspersed with insightful text written in clear cursive carries us through the book, along with new illustrative techniques that blend in paid and embroidery.
We’re hosting Julie Delporte and translator Aleshia Jensen for the launch of This Woman’s Work at La Petite Librairie Drawn and Quarterly this Friday, March 8th. Hope to see you there!
