"A king governs best / in the dark, where you can’t see his hands move.": A poetry evening with Kaveh Akbar, Paige Lewis, and friends
June 14, 2019
We were thrilled to welcome Kaveh Akbar—author of Calling a Wolf a Wolf and founder of the excellent interview series over at divedapper.com—to the bookstore for a reading. He was joined by fellow poets Paige Lewis (whose collection Space Struck is forthcoming from Sarabande Books), Eli Tareq Lynch, and Alisha Dukelow. This lovely event was hosted by Sina Queyras, prolific poet, professor, and curator.
Kaveh capped the evening with an electrifying reading of his long-poem "The Palace", the sound and shape of which seemed to come out of him at all angles. Afterwards, he was kind enough to sign copies long into the night. Many thanks to our wonderful host, readers, and audience for such a memorable event.
