D+Q Donation to the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal and the Indian Residential School Survivors Society

Drawn & Quarterly has donated $500 to the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal and $500 to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. We have also signed on to MP Mumilaaq Qaqqaq and MP Charlie Angus's letter calling on Attorney General David Lametti to investigate crimes against Indigenous Peoples carried out through the residential school system.

The Native Friendship Centre of Montreal is the only service and referral point in the Greater Montreal Area dedicated to serving the Indigenous population consisting of the ten First Nations of Quebec, as well as the Inuit and Métis of Montreal. Among other services, they have a street team, a day centre, and a residential school survivors support program. Other important local non-profits we have donated to in the past and would like to highlight here are the Native Women's Shelter of Montreal and Resilience Montreal

The Indian Residential School Survivors Society, based in North Vancouver, provides essential services to residential school survivors, their families, and those dealing with Intergenerational traumas.

We recognize the genocide committed at residential schools and day schools by the government and church staff, as well as the ongoing impact of genocide against Indigenous Peoples since the beginning of Settler/Indigenous relations. We call on all levels of government to work towards the 94 calls to action made in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission final report.
