Last Friday, we hosted Eloisa Aquino for the launch of The Life and Times of Butch Dykes, a collection of fanzines about strong women and non-binary people who defied the societal norms and were themselves!

For the Brazilian-Canadian artist and zinester Eloisa Aquino, zines are the perfect artistic medium. They can tell a short yet powerful story, and are often accompanied with beautiful illustrations to link the two. Zines have no hierarchy or power imbalance. The reader and the creator are on the same level; they interact in the same way. For Eloisa, this is a very important part of art. Being honest, authentic and speaking for the community.
