Out today is Geneviève Castrée's beautiful and heartbreaking board book, A Bubble. Castrée crafted the story near the end of her life as a gift for her two-year-old daughter before she passed away in 2016 from pancreatic cancer.


Told from the perspective of her daughter, the mother's illness takes on the form of a bubble in the child's eyes. Castrée's bubble is at the centre of a story about the relationship between Castrée and her daughter during a difficult and confusing time. The bubble is both isolating and protective.
