D+Q donation to Old Brewery Mission

D+Q has donated $1000 to the Old Brewery Mission, a Montreal non-profit that provides support to people who are unhoused or precariously housed and one of the city’s leading advocates whose mission is to end chronic homelessness. Now more than ever, people need compassion, not curfews.

Shelters are overcrowded and unsafe, with outbreaks of COVID-19 impacting both the shelter workers and its residents. The curfew in Quebec has only made people with precarious access to housing more unsafe, and is life threatening. Rest in peace Raphaël André. Please consider helping your community however you can this winter. Volunteer, donate, write to your elected officials to ask for more resources. Old Brewery Mission has a number of ways to get involved on their website including the list: 15 Much Needed Items You Might Not Think Of Donating This Season.

If you are a resident of Quebec we hope you will consider signing this petition to Quebec’s National Assembly that asks for an exemption to the curfew for people without access to housing.

Meals for Milton-Parc, a student-led community-based project, has collated an action document with email and phone templates and a Change.org petition that you can use to speak up on behalf of your unhoused neighbours anywhere in Montreal.
